This is a fake Ames Artillery Saber. This is a copy, reproduction, fake of the Model 1840 Artillery saber made by Ames. The markings in the blade are similar to the fake Ames Model 1860 Cavalry saber. The Ames stamp is the wrong font and right justified, and the inspection marks are incorrect and the date is way to large. Also, the guard is not propery shaped. This is a very common saber design and there are plenty real ones on line to compair.
